Darell School follows the agreed syllabus for Richmond schools.  The syllabus ensures that Religious Education is non-denominational and aims to celebrate different beliefs and faiths and educate young children to be world citizens, embrace diversity and contribute to community cohesion.

The teaching of Religious Education at Darell enables pupils to learn and think about the British values of tolerance, mutual respect between those of different faiths and beliefs, democracy, the rule of law and individual liberty. It also enables children to draw comparisons between similar values across faiths.

Religious Education at Darell contributes to the spiritual, moral, social, cultural and intellectual development of all our pupils, both as individuals and as members of society.  Through questioning and reflection, pupils are given the opportunity to explore their own thoughts and feelings, develop a sense of their own identity and an awareness of the spiritual dimension of life.

An important part of the Religious Education of the children at Darell takes place in assemblies. We observe the main Christian festivals of Easter, Christmas and  Harvest, and celebrate those of other world faiths that reflect our diverse community, such as Diwali and Eid.  During our assemblies we enjoy a sense of being together, of sharing in celebration, and of joining each other in times of prayer and quiet reflection.
