Headteacher Message

Hello all,

I do not usually introduce every new pupil or member of staff in the newsletter, but I am afraid that today, I have to make an exception.

Here is Zizi.

As you know, we are in the midst of a year-long focus on kindness. This week, Mrs Claridge was informed that a rabbit had been placed in a box and abandoned in Windsor Great Park. Spreading the love, we adopted Zizi, and he is now part of our growing menagerie of school animals. We are very lucky that Felicia, one of our parent governors, is a vet. She came in today to give him the once over, and he is healthy. There was one issue. Regarding animal welfare, Zizi needs to live with a friend, so we are in the process of finding him one. As you can see from the picture, it is very therapeutic to be in the company of animals, and when we get his national insurance number and DBS check, we will put him to work around the school. Zizi and his friend will reside in Walker class, but all of our children will get the opportunity to spend some time with them if they want to.

Kindness is infectious, and when you start, you are unable to stop.  This week, I sent an email to the borough admissions team. Like us, they do not always get it right, but they are committed, and from my dealings with them, I can see that they care.  It did not take long to thank the team for their work. Within ten minutes, I had received an email from the manager saying she had sent the message to all staff and was sure it would be appreciated.

So, this weekend, consider taking a tiny bit of time out of your life and thanking someone for what they do.

Have a lovely weekend.

Joe Porter

The Reading Corner

Welcome to our weekly section of the newsletter all about reading. Every week, we will share a question (or two) with you about the book your child is reading in school. Please use these questions to help you find out a little more about what your child has been reading in school and continue to develop their love of reading.

Wonder - In 'When's My Birthday?' what presents do the children want? (a pony and a necklace, a chicken, a ball to bounce and bounce) What do they want to eat? (a big cake with lots of chocolate, berries and tiny sandwiches with soup)

Peake - Why do you think Leonard and Marianne became such good friends? Can you remember some of the things they liked to do together? What do you like to do with your special friends?

Weir - Would you rather, write a book or illustrate one? Why?

Walker - how do we make birthday’s special? What do we do to celebrate? (We have parties, cake, balloons, presents.)

Newton - how do we make birthday’s special? What do we do to celebrate? (We have parties, cake, balloons, presents.)

Thunberg - How do you think the giants felt once they had realised what they had done to the forest?

Darwin - What adjectives (describing words) could you use to describe Paddington Bear? E.g. clumsy / kind

Attenborough - Is Isabella doing the right thing by following Lupe into the Forgotten Territories? How can she convince Da that she has to do this?

Parks - What kind of education did Rosa Parks have? How did she pay for it? What subjects did she learn and why?
