Headteacher Message
Firstly, I would like to wish Eid Mubarak to all those in our community celebrating Eid, today! Enjoy the festivities.
I have recently emerged from a bell tent. Pretty much like the ones you can see below
Do not fear this is not my usual start to the day but last night I was lucky enough to be part of the team accompanying Year 4 on their adventure break at Thames Young Mariners. It was a real privilege to spend the evening with Year 4. I promised Mr Shankar that I would not talk about his epic snoring, so I am not going to mention it! We roasted marshmallows on the fire and chatted away. I am also really proud of all these children, some of them spending a night away from their parents for the first time. The confidence this will give them cannot be underestimated and really feeds into our desire to develop the whole child during their time at Darell School.
This links nicely with our summer term curriculum overviews, which we are publishing today. They will be on the website and here is a link.

Please take a look. We really want you to know what your child is learning this term. Below is an example.
I really wanted to let you know about our Year 5/6 debating team and their triumphs this week. They took part in the London Cup, competing against 20 other schools. Do you know what? They won. They took part in a number of debates against other schools amassing 164 points. The nearest school scored 130 odd. This took them into the final which they unfortunately lost to an excellent team. The whole experience was fantastic. I managed to attend for the afternoon, and it was based in one of the plush lecturing halls of the prestigious SOAS University in Russell Square.
For some reason Mr Shankar set his alarm for 5am this morning so while it is only 9.23am I am beginning to feel the pace of the day so will finish here. Have a lovely weekend.
I have to mention that Mr Shankar, Miss Cook and the staff team are doing a fantastic job on the residential. They will deserve their weekend when it comes! I hope you enjoy yours.
